Why So Many Big Bankruptcies?

In the years following the 2008 credit crisis and Great Recession, major municipalities struggled to recover alongside the broader economy, resulting in some of the largest municipal bankruptcy cases in United States history. In an interview with The Bond Buyer, Jim Spiotto offers the explanation that some governments’ changing attitudes toward debt repayment may be at the root of some municipal bankruptcy filings.
